I am a performance educator, actor, director and dramaturg. My work connects the craft of acting with artistic research into improvisation, digital performance and emerging technologies.
Before entering academic work, I built a practice in film, television and advertising, performing under the name Weibo Liu. Those experiences continue to inform how I teach, create and study performance.
From acting to inquiry
My screen work includes The Enigma of Arrival, North by Northeast and Young Marshal. Between 2006 and 2018, I appeared in more than 100 commercials, including campaigns for Snickers, Volkswagen and Pepsi.
Alongside acting, I develop theatre through writing, directing and dramaturgy. Teaching provides another space for inquiry: working with performers to explore how choices, relationships and shared attention give a scene its life.
